We are now offering sculpture courses with classes on Tuesday mornings from 9.30am - 12.30pm. Classes take place in a light and airy self-contained classroom within our studio and are taught by Erin Neelands.
Beginning with an introduction to clay modelling, over the weeks you will discover how to create a variety of different forms and textures. You'll be encouraged to uses sketches and photos to inspire 3D models of still life, animals and heads and faces. The course will also cover working with slips, underglaze pencils, stains and glazes to produce some finished work which you will be able to take home.
Erin graduated from The Evergreen State College (Olympia, Washington USA) in 2004 with a BA in Studio Ceramics and Art History. She studied under professional ceramic artists and also worked as a ceramic technician at university level. She moved to Kent in 2005 and entered the grammar school system as an art technician before achieving her QTS (Qualified Teacher Status) in 2008. Whilst teaching she earned her MA Artist-Teacher & Contemporary Practices (first) at University of London: Goldsmiths. She loves hand-building in clay and delights in guiding others through the creative process.
Term dates for our sculpture classes are the same as our adult pottery classes. Each session is three hours long and costs £25.
All materials and tools are provided, as are refreshments. There is a small charge for fired work.
